Lance Gapuz Laoyan is a sound artist and designer. His work considers different sonic ecologies within an environment, asking how they are perceived in the acts of listening. Through the application of listening methodologies, poetry and recording technologies, Laoyan engages in site specific environments marked by pollution. This approach towards the environment enables Laoyan to position himself within, to pay close attention to the sonic complexities that exist within the given space. He is drawn to a re-positioning of human listening to question the politics of noise and its relation to more-than-human beings within the natural environment.

Laoyan recieved his Masters of Art and Design degree in 2021 on the Non-Linear Narrative course at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague, (NL). He completed his Bachelors degree in Graphic Design in 2018 at the Manchester School of Art, Manchester (UK).
