Lance Gapuz Laoyan is a multidisciplinary artist and designer working in the fields of sound, listening and visual aesthetics. He is a practicing sound artist focusing on the different sonic forms of ecologies and how they are percieve through the act of listening. Laoyan engages in theories of interspecies communication, ethics of listening, indigenous practices of listening, pollution and questions the politics of noise within the natural environment. Laoyan persues an experimental approach to his research which lead to various ways of illustrating his projects via sound composition, video and installation.
Having a background in graphic design Laoyan also works as a freelance designer creating visual artworks for various musicians, club nights and theatre productions.
Laoyan recieved his Masters of Art and Design degree in 2021 on the Non-Linear Narrative course at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague, (NL). He completed his Bachelors degree in Graphic Design in 2018 at the Manchester School of Art, Manchester (UK).
